Your Varsity Cougars came away with a big TEAM win on Saturday. Kickoff was scheduled for 10:30 am, but we didn't actually get to kickoff until after 12:30 because of lightning in the area.

Once the game started, the Cougars dominated from the get go. In the first offensive series, Sophomore QB Tyler Johnston completed a long pass to Senior Rodney Hill and 2 plays later, Josh Oliver punched in the ball for the first TD. Junior kicker Jonathan Riveros pooched a ball right over the heads of the North Side Kick off return and the ball bounced once and Sophomore Warren Carter scooped up the live ball to give possession back to the Cougars. One play later, Rodney Hill scored on a nice run up the middle. The Cougars were up 14-0 and the stunned Steers never recovered.
Junior Gabriel Christion added a TD and Rodney Hill scored again as well. The offensive line of Junior Mauricio Martinez, freshman Ja'Res Gray, senior Anthony Rodriguez, Junior Daviahn Ervin, and senior Ethen Morgan played a tremendous game.

The defense was led by senior Alexander Richmond who ended the night with 2 sacks including a huge one at the end of the first half. Junior Cam'Ron Carter had two interceptions to stop steer drives and Gabriel Christion had a pick as well. Senior Jeremiah Stribling was a vocal leader calling out NS plays and helping to command the defensive unit.
