Thank you to all that took the drive to Maypearl to watch your cougars come away with an exciting victory. The Cougars took the lead with 14 seconds left in the game and came back to Fort Worth with the win! RJ Moilan snapped the ball, Cam Hawkins held, and Skyler Powell kicked in the winning extra point!
The scoring started with a Cam Hawkins 70 yards scoop and score. This was just the start! Keyon Butler added 4 touchdowns on the ground and threw another touchdown to Armani Perry- Brown. The offense racked up 440 total yards. Tyreke Lewis ran hard all night long and picked up several hard earned first downs while racking up 140 yards of rushing. Kaream Williams, D'Mareay Hornsby, Zay young, and Ej Jones, also helped add to those total yards.
On Special teams, Aaron Martin had an exciting 90 yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He secured the ball at 10 yard line and was in full sprint by the time he hit the 25 yard line. No One was catching him!! Not to be outdone, Cam Hawkins added his own score on a 70 yard kickoff return. Our district champion relays were on full show Friday night!!
Defensively, Kaeden Foster had a big game making several plays from his outside linebacker spot. Abril Moses led the D-line had a great game helping to stop their run game. But, the defense was led by Donte Parker-Garrett. Donte finished the night with 6 solo tackles, 6 assisted tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 blocked kicks, and 1 pass defended.
The cougars came away with a 54-53 win!
This Thursday night, the Cougars take on the Rams from Mineral Wells. Kickoff is at 7 pm at Clark Stadium. Thursday night will also be teacher and staff appreciation night! Hope to see you there!
